Creative Showcase and Grandparents Day

Our recent Creative Showcase provided an excellent opportunity for students to see their work displayed. This was perfectly timed to coincide with Grandparents Day. The exhibition, themed around “Seasons,” included work from Reception to Year 8 students.

Visitors entering the ground floor were warmly welcomed by Year 7’s varied landscape paintings, which capture nature’s changing moods, alongside impressive large-scale tree paintings created by our Art Scholars. Moving through the exhibition, the charming Year 1 rooster drawings and Year 2 chicken artwork delighted everyone who passed by.

The artistic journey continued upstairs with Year 8’s charcoal drawings and a remarkable collection of animal sculptures. From delicate robins, hedgehogs, rabbits and foxes to a majestic Stag, the range of creatures showcased our students’ sculptural abilities.

The exhibition offered two paths to chose from, the route around the display or the adventurous option of crawling through a specially created hedge. Several grandparents were embracing their playful side by choosing the crawling route, much to everyone’s delight.

Beyond the hedge entrance, visitors discovered an enchanted forest with an overhead canopy of suspended leaves transitioning from vibrant greens to autumn colours, complemented by scattered brown leaves on the ground. This magical space featured painted bird nests and whimsical birds wearing natures hats, and printed leaf glades with hidden animals to discover. Oil pastel insects and modroc ones creeping and flying about, expressive oil pastel animal faces and creative masks, and many more artistic treasures completed this immersive seasonal experience.

The atmosphere buzzed with joy as students proudly shared their work with family members, especially their grandparents. Based on this year’s success, we’re already looking forward to next year’s Creative Showcase!
