Toys for All 2020
Posted October 19, 2020 By Sacha Guppy
A well-crafted toy can be an excellent conduit for learning and nurturing creativity.
Most of us are familiar with toys like Lego, Fischer Price and Playmobil, which link us all; Teddy Bears, for example, can also inspire feelings of nostalgia, stimulating memories from a childhood long gone.
We will explore toys from the past and present; narratives will be formed through the directed and experimental juxtaposition of toys, which will serve to develop creative vocabulary.
Through looking into artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, Margaret Keane, Wayne Thiebaud and Sarah Grahams, pupils will develop their observational drawing, painting and construction skills.
Year 1 Fischer Price portraits
We were introduced to painting in layers, proportion and facial features.

Observational Still Life across the year groups
A still life is a drawing or painting that focuses on still objects. The subject matter is inanimate and never moves, typically focusing on household objects, flowers, or fruits. In this case, we used toys.

In Year 7 and 8 Lessons, we focussed on drawing and painting.
