Colorful letters on a whiteboard spell out "You Are an Artist" in the top line and "ARTIST" in the bottom line.

‘You Are an Artist. We will be studying various famous works of art and art history. All the Year groups will produce transcriptions or indeed create work inspired by favourite pieces. Afterwards, pupils will make their own cardboard frames to present their work in. Lastly, the Artwork will be brought together to create a TimeLine exhibition introducing this rich history to the rest of the school. Our primary focus will be to encourage students to connect with their artists. When students are inspired by a piece of art, they will remember and learn more from it. It is valuable to see artworks from around the world made by artists from diverse backgrounds. Pieces that stick with us stay in our hearts and minds; we connect with them personally. We remember them, and they can change how we think or experience the world, inspiring us or giving us a new lens to look through. This is how we will facilitate engaging and meaningful art discussions.

Art = Form + Theme + Context + Personal Connection. Through reproducing and creating inspired artworks, pupils will explore the Elements of Art and Principles of Design which are the building blocks of art.
